Environmental Consultant
We are all aware of the problems of global warming, the need to move towards a more sustainable world - think about plastics in the sea and the impact on wildlife, concerns that fossil fuels are running out, and global warming. We need to manage the things we do in our day to day lives to reduce their impact on the environment. Everyday there are new, exciting job roles that help us to support a better future for our world. Environmental consultants advise companies, communities and governments about how they can make the environment better. They may work with major power companies or water suppliers to manage their energy and water services more efficiently and sustainably. They could be working directly with companies, supporting and encouraging them to use environmentally friendly products, renewable energy sources, or manufacturing processes that do not pollute; or be a social scientist or psychologist helping to persuade people and businesses to behave in a more environmentally friendly way; or a consultant passing on information about products and processes that help the environment. Environmental consultants are likely to be fair-minded and considerate, with good communication and problem solving skills. They can make use of their science qualifications as well as maths and English qualifications. Environmental consultants can earn from £22,000 to £60,000 per year.
