About Harpreet...
Who am I?
"I like to lead and engage within a team by discussing different ideas and how to implement them. At the same time I also like to work independently and get stuck into complex tasks. I like the balance of enjoying both ways of working -this brings out the best in me.This personality style complements the job I do as it requires me to work in a hybrid fashion depending on the tasks/challenges to hand."
What do I do?
"My role requires me to work globally as part of a cross functional team to ensure clinical studies are conducted to a high standard and in accordance with national and local regulations. The key focus is patient safety and wellbeing and my work involves reviewing large volumes of clinical data to ensure we can identify any signals/trends of concern early on and also to ensure the study is being carried out correctly. My role require applying technical and clinical skills and is varied from authoring study protocols, reviewing and providing input into clinical study documents which are sent to regulators to interfacing and communicating with clinical teams in a hospital setting. I enjoy the different challenges my job throws my way as not only am i learning new things but it pushes you to think on your feet and to adapt accordingly; all of which ultimately builds on your confidence."
How did I get here?
"After my A-levels I completed a BSc in Human Biology and thereafter an MSc in Nutrition, Physical Activity and Public Health. After graduating the first time I worked in Academia as a Clinical Scientist in an NHS based teaching hospital (University of Bristol). Thereafter I worked in industry for a number of different Biotechs and Pharma companies: Biogen, Amgen, GSK, Gilead and Pfizer."
The life I live
"In my spare time I enjoy being outdoors. I love gardening - its my open space lab where I can experiment on what works and what doesn't. I also love bird watching and making the garden as inviting as possible to attract as many different species as possible; I never tire watching them!!! "
My typical day
"My typical day can vary from reviewing clinical data, communicating with hospitals/clinics on questions pertaining to the study, delivering training to either internal/external colleagues on study procedures and best practices to authoring/amending protocols and patient facing documents such as informed consent forms. These tasks are in addition to attending meetings to discuss the progress/any challenges of the study with colleagues from data management, statistics and programming, quality, clinical supply and study management."
