About Hazel...
Who am I?
"I am a People Manager of 15 Project Leads, within the Vaccines Therapeutic Unit at my current CRO. I understand what motivates people, I am a good listener and like to help people to work together in moments when work peaks. I am an organizer, I am easy to get along with and so work well with others and will jump in when required. I am team orientated, open minded, I encourage discussion as everyone has an opinion that should be heard and know how to motivate people. "
What do I do?
"I ensure that each of my team is successful in their career pathway, by developing them and setting them up for success."
How did I get here?
"I worked for a year in research lab at Hammersmith Hospital, London on genotyping diabetic model. I then gained a M.Phil. in cDNA encoding Melanoma genes. I worked at ICH (part of GOSH, London hospital), developing personalised vaccines using dendritic cells (antigen presenting cells from whole blood). I then got a chance to work as a Clinical Research Associate Assistant at a CRO and then my pathway went from there: Clinical Research Associate, Clinical Operations Leader, Project Lead (PL) and now a People Manager of a team of PLs within the Vaccines Therapeutic Unit at my current CRO. "
The life I live
"I enjoy scuba diving and relaxing on a warm beach in my spare time!"
My typical day
"I help to resource/align the right Project Leads to the clinical studies that we are contracted for. I ensure Project Leads are successful in their studies. I ensure that they are proud of their work on moving a vaccine through several different phases of clinical trials, before approvals are received to allow the vaccine(s) to be marketed. "
My qualifications
"A-levels in Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry at school. Went to Sheffield Hallam University to study BSc (Hons) Biomedical Technology with a placement year in a research lab in Greenville, NC, USA and in final year, I did a dissertation in the Phenotyping of Diabetics in Lille, France. "
