About Naomi ...
Who am I?
"I feel that the personality types match closely with me. These attributes are important in carrying out the day to day activities as a Logistics Officer in the RAF. "
What do I do?
"As a logistics officer in the RAF you are responsible for ensuring that the right equipment gets to the right place , at the right time, with due regard for the economy. The logistics specialisation can be broadly broken down into five Trades - Catering, Mechanical Transport, Fuels, Supply, and Movements. I currently work in Movements and Fuels at RAF Coningsby. I ensure that the fast jet aircraft have the correct amount of fuel provided in order to support the flying programme of the Squadrons. I am also in charge of the Movements Team who ensure that Typhoon deployments are supported around the world with the correct equipment. I love how the job is so varied - no one day is the same - and it is very people focussed as you manage your team. Starting salary for an RAF officer is around £25,000 and rises the longer you serve. "
How did I get here?
"I found out about the RAF when at University where I joined the University Air Squadron (at Southampton). When I graduated University I missed the RAF way of life and so decided to join full time. I chose the Logistics branch due to its close connection with industry, it’s growing importance and influence in an increasingly globalised world and its breadth. "
The life I live
"I have many hobbies and interests ! Too many to name :) I love sport and adventure - climbing mountains , running and hiking. I love to ride horses and go on long bike rides. I love to cook, read and I love to spend time with my family , friends and dog - Basil. "
My typical day
"As I manage a team of people , no one day is the same. I spend a lot of time organising activity from emails in my office , I also manage my teams output from being out and about on the ‘shop floor’. "
My qualifications
"Currently studying a Masters in Logistics Management. I joined the RAF in 2015. Graduated University of Southampton with a 2:1 in Economics and Politics. I add that a degree is not required to join the RAF. I competed A levels in Biology, Maths, and History (A, A, B). "
