"My personality types are listed below and the qualities I have listed fit into my current role perfectly.Coordinator - organised and good at communicating with people, works well with others, pulls people together, gets things done to time and budget.Influencer - good with detail, can work on their own or in a team, can think outside of the box, leadership qualities.Trainer - understands how people learn differently, thrives on helping others improve, passionate about shared knowledge, efficient."

What do I do?

"I am currently working on several stations making them accessible for all which basically means making the station step free (either footbridge or a lift) so people with physical disabilities or families with pushchairs can move freely around the station and get to different platforms with ease. I absolutely love the schemes I am working on as I enjoy the stakeholder management side of things and meeting up with different people to discuss the project to make sure everything is considered. The starting salary for project management roles is £25,000."

How did I get here?

"I left university and worked in Forensics for several years, whilst working I studied a distanced learning MSc part time. I decided to have a career change and move into the Rail Industry and started off in an administration/reception role. I found that I enjoyed the move and applied for roles in Project Management. I worked as a Project Management Assistant and whilst working I studied an apprenticeship in Project Management which led me to gain my role as a Scheme Project Manager and then I went through a reorganisation and moved into the Development Project Manager role."

The life I live

"I have four young children who take up a lot of my time out of work. We have a lot of fun together and they are learning how both parents can work full time and have a successful career as well as having a family. My background is Forensic Science and I moved into the Rail Industry in my late 20's as a career change."

My typical day

"I work flexibly which means I work my full time hours in four days and have a Friday off work. Monday mornings I am normally catching up with work from Friday and any site works which have happened over the weekend. Each week we have a control board meeting where we discuss how the last week went and what work we completed and what we have planned for the following week. My main role is to progressing the schemes in the development stage and make sure the project is set up with respect to its programme, commercial, health and safety and project risks."

"AS Level Chemistry and General Studies and A-Level Biology, Geography and Psychology at College.BSc (Hons) Forensic Science at University.MSc Forensic Science Part-time via Distance Learning at University.PMQ Project Management Qualification - Associate - Part-time apprenticeship"
