About Catherine...

Who am I?

"My personality types are coordinator, influencer and quality controller which reflect my organisation, communication and problem solving skills. I am diplomatic and driven to get things done whilst also paying attention to detail. This supports my role as a Product Growth Head as I spend a lot of time managing projects and coordinating people to implement solutions."

What do I do?

"My main objectives are to improve sales of products through finding supply and commercial solutions, as well as providing technical support to colleagues. I complete project work to launch new products or solutions, and also manage current products. The thing I enjoy most is that my job is really varied and I work with a wide range of people internally and externally."

How did I get here?

"During my Higher Apprenticeship at JCB I completed engineering placements in Design, Quality and Technical Service, but after my apprenticeship I was interested in the commercial side of the business and moved to a role as an Aftermarket Product Specialist. I then spent two years travelling in the UK as a Regional Aftermarket Sales Manager, before changing to my current role as Product Growth Head."

The life I live

"I love to play sports in my spare time, particularly netball, tennis and fitness. I also enjoy being outdoors, around the farm and walking my dogs. Spending time with family and friends is also important to me, and my other hobbies include shopping and reading."

My typical day

"I work on and manage a variety of projects to deliver sales growth, which means communicating with internal stakeholders and suppliers on a daily basis. I spend time at my computer responding to emails and answering phone calls but also attend a lot of meetings. I usually spend some time travelling to visit suppliers or JCB dealers both in the UK and abroad. Since the COVID pandemic a lot of my meetings and visits have been replaced by Microsoft Teams."

My qualifications

"I completed A Levels in Mathematics, Physics & Economics before starting a Higher Apprenticeship at JCB. I achieved a FdEng in Intergrated Engineering and a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering, alongside a Level 4 NVQ in Engineering Manufacture. In addition I have achieved EngTech and IEng status with the IMechE. "
