About Anastasiia...
Who am I?
"I am a mixture of co-ordinator, influencer and quality controller and I do enjoy helping people, when needed. I also have a skill of bringing people together in order to complete a particular task. I can explain things, so people easily understand it. I work in Portfolio Analytics team, where it is important to be good at finding and reviewing information, as well as thinking outside the box. Quality controller is a key part of my personality, as I am curious, proactive and good with detail. I challenge the way things have always been done and I like to keep people safe."
What do I do?
"I help colleagues by visualising the data - creating graphs and charts in Power BI which highlight the insights. I find it very exciting to help develop different initiatives in the bank, which focus on the development of colleagues, such as helping colleague to learn or improve their coding skills. I do love to explore and experiment with different software and tools (such as Power BI, Python), which help colleagues in doing their job."
How did I get here?
"Originally I am from Russia and at school I enjoyed English, Math, Informatics (IT) and Social Studies. Unfortunately, I didn't have economics at school, but I was always interested in world events and how they impact different countries and individuals. As I was interested in studying abroad, I have chosen the University in London. After completing Bachelor Degree in Investment & Financial Risk Management at City university, I have successfully secured a place on graduate scheme. As part of the graduate scheme I have completed 4 placements (different roles) and then joined Country Risk, Innovation and Analytics team as Senior Analyst. After delivering a number of projects and pick up more responsibilities, I have successfully secured a Manager Role within the team. In the end of 2022 I have decided to expend my knowledge of the bank, and have made a move to the Portfolio Analytics role in Business and Commercial Banking. "
The life I live
"I am a Ballroom & Latin Dancer, something I started doing when I was 7 years old in Russia and continued practicing in London when I moved here for studies at the University. I have been competing in the UK in Ballroom & Latin Dance for the past 3 years and achieved a few good results. Dancing is something that I am very passionate about, it helps me not only to keep fit but also allows me to relax and switch my mind off work. I practice with Dance Society at the UCL (University College London) as it is a great community and I met great friends there. We practice with amazing coaches, who not only help us to develop as dancers but also help us to improve as individuals. Another hobby of mine is skiing, again something I started doing in Russia as a kid as the mountain was only 30 min walk away from our flat. Since moving to London, I have started going on ski trips to France and Austria. I was very excited to get to know that skiing is something very popular in Lloyds, and going for a ski trip with my colleagues, allowed me to get to know them better outside of the workplace and become close friends with a few of them.I also love traveling, exploring new places and cultures excites me a lot and helps to relax. "
My typical day
"In my previous role in the Country Risk, Innovation, and Analytics team, I had 3 types of key activities. On a typical day, I completed a number of tasks related to Country Risk, including answering the questions via email (Outlook) or in-person (if in the office) regarding the amount of money the bank is ready to lend to a particular country, or what are the levels of money which we already provide to a particular group of customers and helping with issues which colleagues might have with the systems or data. Innovation type of activities included the delivery of continuous improvement projects, which aim to make current processes simpler and more efficient, often with the use of software (e.g. Visual Basic in Excel, POWER BI, or SharePoint). My role included reviewing the current processes, suggesting improvements, and implementing the changes. I also helped other members of the team by reviewing their ideas and plans, advising on how we can overcome the challenges, and sharing my views on the proposed approaches. Quite often we presented our ideas to other colleagues, explaining what we are suggesting to change, which benefits it brings and how we will implement the change. Innovation activities also include the introduction of new tools to the team and helping colleagues to use the tools. The recent tools which I introduced to my team are JIRA (helps to manage the tasks), Confluence (allows to collaborate with colleagues on documents), POWER BI (data visualisation), and Microsoft Teams (chat and calls). Tasks related to Analytics, included the use of excel and some newer Microsoft software, such as POWER BI, which helps me to create graphs, tables, and charts, so the numbers can be presented to colleagues in a structured way. This helps colleagues to understand the numbers better, to see whether there any trends or if any area needs a more detailed review. This activity is what I continue doing now in Portfolio Analytics team, where I also use SQL to query the data.Outside of my role responsibilities, but something I am very passionate about is organizing learning sessions for colleagues focusing on developing their coding and visualisation skills. This involves setting up the time in the calendars for the sessions, advertising the sessions on the internal portal (similar to Facebook, but specifically created only for Lloyds colleagues), ensuring that colleagues are available to deliver the session and that they have everything needed. As for volunteering, I also used to deliver coding sessions for children at the Library in collaboration with the Code Club initiative. I enjoyed helping children in learning such languages as Scratch and Python. I hope that I will have an opportunity soon to resume such sessions. If you are interested in learning how to code, Code Club materials are available online for free - you can just google it! The projects are fun and easy to follow and I am sure, this knowledge will be useful in the future."
