We seek information from our members on the policies they would like to see be created and implemented to ensure ships are safe. I also get to do a lot of different projects that focus on specialised on certain topics and even get to be creative with designing promotional materials, creating industry videos and putting on events."

"10 GCSEs including Maths and Double Science. Attended a Nautical College and studied to achieve a HND in Nautical Science. As part of my career in the Merchant Navy we had to complete a cadetship allowing me to gain the HND, but also an unlimited ‘Certificate of Competency’ allowing me to navigate any ship of any size as a third or second officer. After working at sea for 8 and a half years, 5 as an Officer of the Watch I moved ashore and have been moving up internally ever since."
