About Stacey...

Who am I?

"I am someone who is very driven. I'm still learning about myself and find that I adapt to the environment around me. I'm a bit of a chameleon!"

What do I do?

"I manage the overall project management of buying expensive, state-of-the-art, pieces of equipment. I work with an Engineering team who help advise on the technicalities and I make sure we consider all the risks that could trip us up. My role also involves keeping an eye on the project finances and ensuring that everybody is doing what they should be doing to make sure that equipment arrives at the National Composites Centre at the right standard."

How did I get here?

"Once I'd finished by GCSEs, I went on to do A-Levels (I took ICT, French, Music and Theatre Studies). I also opted to do additional GCSEs during Sixth Form (Italian and Spanish). After Sixth Form, I went to University in Birmingham to study a BSc in French and Translation Studies (my heart was set on being a Translator!). I moved to France for my third year of university studies and taught English in primary schools - that was fun! After I graduated, I moved about a bit - I went to Spain and learned Spanish and I lived in London for a while. I got a job as a Translator in France at the age of 25 and then didn't really know what I wanted to do next. I kind of fell into my job at the NCC but I've since studied an MBA (Masters in Business Administration) and am now thinking about my next move."

The life I live

"I love cycling, playing the piano and I used to playing the saxophone in a band with my Dad (I must get back into that!). I also enjoy spending time with my friends. I also like to read and practice my French and Spanish."

My typical day

"A typical day at work will involve arriving around 9am-ish. I'll grab a cup of tea, sit down at my desk and go through my emails. I generally have a few meetings in the morning, normally relating to my projects or some of the processes within the business. I'll stop at lunchtime for 45 minutes and will generally go for a walk out of the office. Then, the afternoon is more desk-based activity, looking at project financials and plans."

My qualifications

"French GCSE - A*Spanish GCSE - A*Italian GCSE - A*Lots of others that I don't remember! I don't think I got any below a C."
