Nadine Priestman

Technical Administrator at Rolls Royce

My aim is to encourage girls to follow STEM careers, so I would give the opportunity to do work experience at Rolls Royce and also let them know of girl only events. Also give them as much information as possible about career paths, apprenticeships and subjects to study.

About Nadine...

Who am I?

"Through the STEM work I do. As I feel I’m inquisitive and practical, love reading and researching. I like to be a leader rather than a follower and am always willing to help out. At the same time, I’m also a perfectionist! I enjoy researching activities to use for the different age groups that I interactive with. I’m now involved in planning and co-hosting corporate Girlguiding and Scouting events at Rolls-Royce place. For all my activities, I need to ensure they are age appropriate and the relevant risk assessments have been carried out. "

What do I do?

"\"I am the owner of the Cross Projects On Call Sheet and processing of GD (General Development) Kits. The cross projects on call sheets ensures that all the test beds world wide that have engines on test e.g. cross wind, bird ingestion tests have engineers to cover any problems that may occur whilst they are on test. 24/7. GD kits consist of the engine parts that are required to carry out the engine tests or may be parts that need to be ship around the world. I really enjoy the opportunities to do STEM events. These include going to schools and running careers events and community events. At community events, I run activities e.g. water and paper rockets, lava lamps and making sherbet. At a careers event, the activities may include coding lego robots, aluminium engines and ipads with a Trent Engine app.\""

How did I get here?

"STEM Ambassadors who were already doing the work before I started the role really inspired me to get where I am."

The life I live

"I belong to my local Women's Institute so get involved with their activities which includes craft, walking, netball and singing. I also enjoy reading."

My typical day

"On a typical day I will be answering emails, running reports, issuing on call sheets for completion by Engine Owners: managers who are in charge of the project engines / DPMs: Senior project managers and Development Function . Which consists of five engine projects: Trent XWB84 and 97; Trent 1000/7000; CTP and Fleet."
