About Trudie...

Who am I?

"I am curious and need to be continually learning and enjoy solving problems together with other people. I think that part is served by my Explorer and Investigator. I am organised and efficient and excited to support others to develop their careers. Coordinator’s elements of attention to detail and communicating certainly help with this."

What do I do?

"I lead a team that supports the assembly plant that manufactures A400M wings and works to continuously improve the design. I like being involved in a high tech industry that makes products that excites and interests everyone. I enjoy working with talented people in different areas of our business and continually learning from them. Bringing people together to find solutions to interesting technical challenges is rewarding for me. I started as a stress engineer analysing technical components and am now leading a team that is responsible for a whole wing, so progression is definitely possible."

How did I get here?

"I started off wanting to be a Civil Engineer - inspired my dad who was a works manager for Sir Robert McAlpine and I was interested how buildings were constructed. However, having been to a few air shows I went to a WISE session at BAE in Filton and learnt that Aerospace Engineer was a degree subject. The rest is history!"

The life I live

"Spending time with my family and pets. Trying to get fit - more ambition than reality."

My typical day

"A typical day includes technical problem solving, managing people and budgets, working on the team strategy and planning workload. No one day is the same!"

My qualifications

"Secondary education (GCSE/O-Levels) Post secondary education (College, A-levels, NVQ3 or equivalent) A level Maths (D), Physics (D), Chemistry(E) Undergraduate degree (BSc, BA, etc.) BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering 2:1 Airbus management training Aerospace technical training courses "
