About Ishita...
Who am I?
"Ishita is a Senior Implementation Engineer, designing and checking microchips (‘the brains’) for smartphones. The ‘Developer’ type matches her role as she needs to be creative and persistent in her designs. As a ‘Campaigner’ she works with her team and is patient, collaborative and understanding as they work towards getting the products right for the process required. She is self-motivated and organised which are good skills for her as she works independently a lot of the time and sometimes from home. Her ‘Trainer’ type is useful when working with others in the team and helping them, as well as in her volunteering and outreach work with young people. "
What do I do?
"Ishita is a Senior Implementation Engineer. She designs and checks semiconductor chips, which are thin slices of semiconductor with complex electronic circuits etched on that form microchips for use in 95% of smartphones all over the world. Microchips provide the ’brains’ in all our technology. She compares designing microchips to designing floor plans in houses, everything has to be in the right place to make it work. Ishita may have designed the chip in your smartphone! She says it is exciting designing things that you cannot usually see, knowing that she is delivering new and better technology each time.Ishita says she loves the flexibility of her work, it is all about getting the job done. She likes working with all the teams across the company, she attends a lot of team meetings and everyone helps each other. She says she has the opportunity to own her work and reach her full potential. Ishita’s company supports her to do volunteering activities, often one day per week, to raise funds and support outreach work. She really enjoys this and it gives her a good balance to work. She also has the opportunity to travel with both the work and her volunteering activities."
How did I get here?
"Ishita was inspired by her dad who supported her to take on challenges and always do her best. She loves the subjects she studied, and always wanted to be an engineer, believing that this would mean she could give back to society.Ishita studied for BEng in Electronics and Communications Engineering in India. She then came to Sheffield to take her master’s degree in Advanced Control and Systems Engineering. She applied for a graduate role at ARM through their website, and started work there as soon as she completed University.Ishita says that every day she is learning at ARM, and that she feels her work is observed and appreciated, and she is supported to progress."
The life I live
"Ishita says she ‘goes all out’! She loves singing, dancing, painting, volunteering, cooking, chatting with loved ones and going out – whilst she is a very enthusiastic person, she says she is also very focused. In the future, she sees herself progressing in her career at ARM and she hopes to balance out every activity in life, the way she has been in the past years! She also dreams of one day opening a fine arts gallery or school! Oh and she would love to see her YouTube channel - 'ITFungama' grow!"
