Geo scientist / engineer
Geoscientists and Geoengineers study the Earth’s structure and formation, they analyse rocks and soil to explore structural conditions, and natural mineral and energy resources.Geoscientists and engineers assess the ground for building suitability on engineering projects like dam or tunnel building. They could be advising on landfill sites, nuclear storage, transport routes or waste water plants. They may be looking for energy resources, minerals or natural water sources. They may be studying volcanic and seismic activity, to understand effects of earthquakes and develop early warning systems. They could be working all over the world.You will need good English, Maths and Science qualifications and a degree in a relevant subject – i.e. earth science, geology, geophysics. You will need to have good scientific, analytical, and observational skills.Geoscientists earn between £22,000 to £75,000 per year.
