The most rewarding part of my work is witnessing a campaign come to life and seeing how well it has performed. It is gratifying to observe the impact of my efforts in terms of increased engagement, website traffic, and positive feedback from the general public. This feedback helps me refine my strategies and content creation process, ensuring continuous improvement and delivering valuable information to the target audience. How did I get here?
"The route to my current role as a digital communications undergraduate involved several steps. It began with my decision to pursue a degree in business management and marketing at university. This educational foundation provided me with a broad understanding of business principles and marketing strategies. During my studies, I actively researched opportunities for a placement to gain practical experience in the field. I was particularly interested in working with Pfizer, to understand the complexities of communicating with the public in the healthcare industry. I recognized the importance of effective communication in this sector, as it plays a crucial role in disseminating accurate information and building trust with the public. After thorough research and preparation, I applied for a placement with Pfizer and was fortunate enough to be accepted. This opportunity has really allowed me to express my passion for communications and the intricacies of the digital age. "
The life I live
"In my spare time, I have a few activities that I thoroughly enjoy. Firstly, I am an avid reader. I find great pleasure in immersing myself in different genres and exploring new worlds through books. Another activity that brings me joy is spending time with my dogs. They are an important part of my life, and I get to play, walk, and bond with them. When I have the opportunity, I love to go skiing with my family and friends. Skiing has been my favourite and only sporting activity since a young age. The rush of gliding down the slopes and the breathtaking views from high up in the mountains create an exhilarating experience. It's not just the physical aspect of skiing that I enjoy, but also the opportunity to spend quality time with loved ones and create lasting memories. Overall, in my spare time, you'll often find me engrossed in a book, playing with my dogs, or hitting the slopes. "
My typical day
"As a digital communications undergraduate, my days are filled with a variety of tasks and responsibilities. One of the key aspects of my role is collaborating with my team members, which involves regular team meetings and cross-functional meetings. These meetings provide an opportunity to discuss ongoing projects, brainstorm ideas, and align our efforts towards achieving overall company goals. A significant part of my work revolves around creating engaging social media content. This includes developing creative concepts and crafting compelling messages to captivate the general public. Some of my work may be based off wider content created by the rest of my team. I utilize various platforms to schedule and publish content. I then will do social listening, analysing how well the campaign performed as well as reading comments and monitoring for any adverse events. In addition to social media, I am also responsible for creating website content. This involves writing and editing website copy, selecting visuals, and ensuring that the content is both informative and user-friendly. As a digital communications undergraduate, I have also developed skills in using software like Photoshop. This allows me to create visually appealing graphics and edit images for our digital platforms. Occasionally, I have the opportunity to attend podcast recordings. It's a great way for me to gain insight into the recording process and how to brief individuals, it is also great to see a project from a brief to final form. Another important aspect of my role is extracting information from wider business reports. This requires me to analyse data to identify key insights and make it more appealing to the general public for social media and the website. Lastly, I am familiar with internal approval processes. This involves seeking approvals from stakeholders, such as managers or medical teams, before publishing or implementing certain digital communications initiatives. This ensures that our content is compliant, accurate, and aligns with company guidelines. In conclusion, as a digital communications undergraduate, my days are dynamic and multifaceted. From team meetings and creating social media and website content to using Photoshop, attending podcast recordings, and extracting information from wider business reports. "
