About Jenny...

Who am I?

"My personality types definitely make sense to me, especially for the trainer personality type because throughout school, university and now in the workplace I have always loved helping others and doing group work, as I find the work you do as a team is far more satisfying then as an individual as you get to share that achievement with others. Also, the personality type of being an influencer really makes sense to me as I love to help people by explaining things in a way they can understand as I also enjoy the challenge of adapting to different people learning styles. I especially found myself doing this a lot of school/University when exam season rolled around the corner as not only could I help my peers through me explaining tricky concepts, but I would also benefit as it would solidify my own knowledge in the process. Additionally, I think the personality type of a developer suits me quite well as well as I am constantly looking to learn new things and improve upon existing systems as a result of the things I’ve learnt. I also like to be a problem solver in that same regard, and I am very lucky the job I have now enables me to problem solve a lot when looking at data. "

What do I do?

"My role as a clinical scientist involves analysing data to make sure that vaccines are safe for patients. My role involves a lot of problem solving and investigating which I really enjoy as it keeps my brain very engaged in the task I’m doing as I know I have an end goal to reach. What I enjoy most about my role is the fact that I get to be involved in the opportunity to change patients live and learn a variety of new skills whilst doing so. "

How did I get here?

"Currently my role involves analysing data to make sure that vaccines are safe for patients. Before I began this role, I worked several part time jobs in hospitality and although those jobs are unrelated to my current role, I still found that I gained a lot of transferrable skills such as teamwork, communication and organisation all of which I can now apply to my current role. The global pandemic in 2019 really inspired me to learn more about how vaccines are produced and really inspired me to apply for my current role as well. "

The life I live

"In my spare time I love to read! (Mainly fiction, anything Sci-fi or fantasy). I also love to play netball and badminton too. "

My typical day

"A typical day at work for me involves firstly checking my emails and responding to those. Then I also like to make a do list as that helps me stay organised! During the rest of the day, I will review any documents that are on my list and I also carry out data review. I also have various online/in-person meetings during the day, I am very lucky to work with a wide variety of people from all around the world too in my role. I attend regular data review and study team meetings some of which I will take minutes for and some I get the opportunity to coordinate. "

My qualifications

"A-levels: Biology A, Chemistry A, History A*, EPQ A* I completed the first two years of my undergraduate Biological Sciences degree at the university of Warwick, and I am now on a year long placement at Pfizer and will return for my last year at university once my placement is complete. "
