"It is my job to help with the initial design process for the new Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC). These new ships are being designed using the British Type 26 frigates as reference. I am responsible for several compartments (rooms) on the ship, it is up to me to get them through design review to ensure they can all be used as intended by the client. I am also responsible for change on the ship, this is where we make changes to the design to better suite the client/ function of the ship."

"Durning school I was always interested in design, but I wanted to make things not only function but look aesthetic as well. My favourite subjects where Maths, Physics and Art which I took to advanced higher. I wanted a degree that suited these interests and ended up stuck between Naval Architecture and Product Design engineering. I chose Product design engineering and studied for 5 years at Strathclyde, before joining Belcan to apply my skill in the Marine industry"

"In my spare time I love to craft, origami is one of my main passions, I also make my own jewellery."

"My typical day starts with a 7 am start getting into the office for 8am. The morning starts slow giving me a change to catch up on emails and review any work I have in process. A lot of my work requires me to phone and email a variety of people to get professional opinions and approval for different changes required on the ship. I like to get out of the office at lunch for fresh air and a walk. In the afternoon I'll have further meetings with team keeping me busy until 4/5pm when I'll head home. Working longer days during the week allows me to finish at lunch time on a Friday, due to my works flexible working."
