Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman UK
Success is not final. Failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.
About Nintse...
Who am I?
"I was not expecting the results to be so spot on! My three personality types are Manager, Coach and Quality Controller. When reading the traits that come under coach, I would say the ones that immediately stand out to me are; I'm good at working with a wide range of people and I take pride in exceeding expectations. I am a very motivated individual and I am a great team player who is compassionate. Another trait that I resonate with under Quality Controller is that I'm good with detail, also fair, honest and ethical is another one that I believe describes my character well. All these traits come into play when I am at work whilst interacting with colleagues and clients, they help me perform my tasks efficiently and achieve goals."
What do I do?
"As a systems engineer my job responsibility is to design, develop and integrate complex systems for every stage of a lifecycle. I am currently on the graduate scheme at Northrop Grumman UK. So far my responsibilities have included updating CAD drawings, and producing other relevant documents for Design Reviews. I have also created test specifications for Verification and Validation team to use when doing testing."
How did I get here?
"After being inspired by a female engineer when I was 15, I took Physics, Maths, Further Maths and Economics at A level. I then went and studied Mechanical Engineering at bachelors level, and went on to do my postgraduate degree in Oil and Gas engineering. Once I completed this degree Covid-19 happened and I found it difficult to secure a place on a graduate scheme. I managed to get a job as a trainee quality engineer for a small precision engineering company in Essex not far from my family home. After a year as a Trainee Engineer I left to join the graduate scheme at Northrop Grumman UK as a graduate systems engineer."
The life I live
"Reality TV is my guilty pleasure, I am also a big Harry Potter fan. I enjoy sports too, when I was at university I was a cheerleader, now I enjoy watching football and Tennis (I am an Arsenal fan!). "
My typical day
"A typical day starts at 8:00am for me. After getting ready, I pour hot water from the kettle into my mug and mix in fresh lemon bits, this makes me feel refreshed and ready to start the day. I usually have a daily-stand up meeting at 9:00am, where my Team lead will give everyone in the team the chance to share what progress they have made since the last meeting and what their plan is for the day. Depending on what project I'm working on I could be using AutoCAD software to work on CAD drawings, I could be using IBM DOORS to manage project requirements or I might be working on producing/updating design document using standard MS Office apps such as Word or Excel."
My qualifications
"GCSE - 8A*s, 3As, 1B (includes triple science)A levels - Physics, Maths, Further Maths, EconomicsBEng Mechanical Engineering Postgraduate degree in Oil and Gas Engineering"
