"Chemistry is change and change is the core of your belief system. Which is good because that’s what we need more of – people who refuse to accept the status quo, who aren’t afraid to take on the unacceptable"
About Marcia...
Who am I?
"My Skills My Life identified me as a Developer, Influencer and Manager. Being 100% honest I have never managed anyone in my career as I have literally just started working 3 years ago but I cannot wait to be able to inspire and share my knowledge with someone that I will have the pleasure to measure one day. I love meeting new people and ensure that are a part of the team. I enjoy getting everyone involved and finding a way to make our day to day lives just that little bit easier to ensure the financial stability of a clinical trial. I 100% enjoy my role and think it fits well with my personality. "
What do I do?
"I analyze data and manage the financial status of projects ensuring we keep within the contractual coverage. I oversee contract modifications and day to day reporting for my portfolio. I love crunching the numbers and looking into variances. A lot of this involves complex Excel analysis and running financial reports to ensure that for example we have invoice the correct amount and if Indirect costs are split correctly. I also ensure that work is done in the correct contractual regions and ensure that work is not outside contractual coverage. Without my role CRG would not have good financial knowledge of the portfolios, work would end up being done regardless of coverage, invoicing would no go out to clients and the studies would not be in a good financial status."
How did I get here?
"I finished sixth form and went into the apprenticeship career rather than the university path. I have completed AAT Level 2, Level 3 and I am now studying the professional qualification of CIMA alongside my day to day job. I have included more detail regarding my qualifications down below."
The life I live
"I enjoy Pilates and I do Pilates 4 times a week. I am also a bookworm so not only do I love to read I love to collect beautful copies of books. I enjoy long walks through villages and fields and I am a huge cat lover. I grew up with cats and I now have my own little kitten named Sox (Search Lightyear Soxs on Google to find out more about the name)."
My typical day
"I start my day by going through my inbox and ensuring any emails from the previous night are actioned as I work a lot with the US. I then proceed to complete any tasks from the previous day that were delayed. I don't have a lot of structure outside of month end and tend to use my emails as a to do list. During month end it's very chaotic and there is no schedule just prioritization."
My qualifications
"I have 10 GCSE's and 4 A-Levels. I did A-Level Maths, Business Studies and Psychology and I also did the Extended Project Qualification. During my professional career I have complete Level 2 and Level 3 with the Association of Accounting Technicians which is the accounting body for the Accounting Technicians. I am currently studying for the professional qualification of CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants). CIMA offers training and qualification in management accountancy and related subjects. It is focused on accountants working in industry and provides ongoing support and training for members."
