About Nicola ...
Who am I?
"My personality types 100% match with me. I like to be a leader and help people to develop themselves. My personality types fit with the work I do as i am constantly finding ways to improve things when things have gone wrong - Innovator, Help my team mates with any questions they have due to my experience, also training out new ways to other departments - Coach, I like to be in control and confident in my actions and goals, while motivating and coaching others - Manager."
What do I do?
"I deal with customer complaints from customers. I investigate their complaints which includes document reviews and testing of any returned items to help with the investigation. This includes checking to see if things leak, identifying foreign objects using special equipment and blowing things up. I then write reports which go to the customer explaining what the investigation found and any corrections that were put in place to stop things happening again. It is like doing different experiments everyday.Sometimes you have to have difficult conversations with customers when they do not agree with your findings! The starting salary for my role is 33k per year with 3k shift allowance. There is also a 7% bonus incentive scheme."
How did I get here?
"I left school after A levels and trained to be a pharmacy technician in the NHS dispensing drugs and making drugs. I then left and went to a pharmaceutical company where we manufactured different drugs. I progressed from operator, to lead operator, to supervisor. I then moved to pharmaceutical device manufacturing to learn something new. All the time building my skills and knowledge. I like to constantly learn and improve myself, so i then decided to channel all my knowledge into being a Quality Engineer,"
The life I live
"In my spare time i spend a lot of time with horses as I bought my daughter her first pony during lockdown. I like holidays abroad and watching trashy TV."
My typical day
"My day starts by checking emails. I then check what reports I have due and prioritise which to do first. If the unit has been returned from the customer, i carry out testing and taking photos ect. I then write up my report and detail me findings. Sometimes i have to issue tasks to other departments to find out information for me or talk to people who may have been involved within the manufacture. You can have lots of investigations to do at anyone time, so you need to manage your time effectively. The aim is to complete all investigations within 30days from receiving notification from the customer. The company goals are to complete the investigations within 30 days and this data is trended and reported."
