Breast Cancer Franchise Marketing Graduate (Future Leaders Graduate Scheme) at Pfizer UK
"If you haven’t failed yet, you haven’t tried anything"
Throughout my career I have experienced multiple set-backs (e.g. not getting into university first time around, not securing my first choice of optional rotation on my graduate scheme). But instead of dwelling on the disappointment, I have utilised these set-backs to make myself more resilient and in-turn developed far more than I would have had I got my first choice.
About Rosa...
Who am I?
"Coach – My current role requires me to be creative (producing engaging, high-quality marketing materials) whilst understanding complex pharmaceutical science (to ensure all claims used are correct and appropriate). I work cross-functionally with a range of teams across the business, interacting with a diverse range of colleagues. I believe I am a good listener, I am compassionate and friendly, both professionally and personally. Trainer – Both professionally and personally I am incredibly organised and take pride in my ability to project manage efficiently. Within this role and in previous jobs (as a SMF mentor and as a UKCAT tutor) I have developed an understanding of how people learn differently, an ability to simplify complex information and have produced creative ways to teach information. I am passionate about sharing the knowledge I have gained through my degree (Medicinal Chemistry) and through working in the pharmaceutical industry. I am also always keen to learn more and expand my knowledge through discussion and problem solving. Quality Controller – Both my degree and current role require a high-level attention to detail and a keen curiosity to learn and develop. I am a proactive individual and pride myself on my ability to work independently and use my initiative. Within my current role, I am DME (direct marketing expense) lead which requires an ability to manage risk to ensure the brand team sticks to budget and can foresee any potential risks of overspend."

"
How did I get here?
"During school, chemistry was always my favourite subject, with a specific interest in medicines and their development. This encouraged me to undertake a degree in Medicinal chemistry, with no career in mind. At the beginning of second year, I began independently looking for placement roles for jobs predominantly outside of the laboratory setting. I came across a range of roles within pharmaceutical marketing and managed to secure a place at Pfizer. Whilst on placement I enjoyed my role so much that I applied for the future leaders graduate scheme (which is internal candidates only) and secured a place following the completion of my degree. I returned to university for final year, achieving in first class MChem in Medicinal chemistry and am currently seven months into my two-year rotational graduate scheme."
The life I live
"I am a very active individual, part-taking in sports both independently and in a team. I play tennis and football as part of team/club, alongside running and swimming recreationally. I am currently attempting to run every ParkRun location in London, as I have only recently re-located here. I am an avid reader and enjoy developing my medicinal and scientific knowledge through non-fiction books, as well as using fiction to relax and unwind. I am a huge foodie, through both cooking at home with my flatmate and exploring new restaurants, which is especially great in London. "
My typical day
"Within my current role I manage and support several projects, so my typical day varies depending on the stage and requirement of each project. I am responsible for the management of our third-party campaign, which involves content creation and review, approval support, liaising with the agency and most recently producing engagement reports for the first wave of the campaign. I am DME lead for the brand, so I am responsible for maintaining our DME tracker, aligning the tracker with the monthly AP report from finance and presenting YTD updates at the monthly team meeting. Within the brand team, I provide strategic support across a range of promotional projects, so most days will involve meetings to discuss tactics and strategy for ongoing projects. I am currently trying to gain some experience cross-functionally in the health economics and public policy teams, so regularly shadow meetings to network and gain insight into other parts of the business. As part of the graduate scheme, I support on two culture campaigns which involves organising and implementing a variety of events throughout the year to promote Joy and Wellbeing across the business."
My qualifications
"A-Levels = ABB (Geography, Chemistry & Biology)AS-Levels = A (Psychology)MChem = First Class (Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry)During 3rd year of university, I undertook a Hospital Commercial Marketing placement at Pfizer.
