About Isabelle...

Who am I?

"The problem is I did not grew up with female role models in my career field that I was exposed to that much but I do relate with some of the female role models like Malala Yousafzai who advocate for female and shows a lot of bravery due to her situation. And I really enjoy the work of Alan turing and his impact in computer science ."

What do I do?

"Isabelle grew up in Mauritius Island and has been working as a software engineer since 2011.She wore multiple hats across roles in the company as Developer, Technical Lead and ProjectManager. She loves being on the technical side and is always looking for a challenge to solve but isalso well-known for her ways of working and is specialized in recovery projects.Isabelle enjoys sharing the love of coding to future generations and represented women inSTEM both in Mauritius and UK.Working with children is also one of her passions and is a keen volunteer providing supportwhenever she can either in drawing & crafting or computer activities. The starting salary for my role depends on company and opportunities , for example you can start an apprenticeship etc .."

How did I get here?

"I wanted to do science studies and the one left that would not incur that much years of studies and cost ( doctor ) was computer science thus I took this route to compensate and enjoyed it till now.I took the traditional of studying computer science as this is the key to get a job in this area in my home country , Mauritius.I relocated 5 years ago to uk and I can guarantee that here in the UK this is a not a prerequisite there are so many people who reskilled and were given opportunities to grow in this sector without any specific STEM subject. But I do encourage to have a STEM subject that can help on the problem solving ."

The life I live

"I love swimming and I learnt swimming directly in the sea very young which apparently is not a typical thing for self learning . I love talking about this as it also determines my character in everything that I do . "

My typical day

"I usually have daily team catchup calls from which we give our status from yesterday and plan for the day . Then I attend some online or face to face meeting to discuss requirements and then proceeds to coding."

My qualifications

"I did a BSC Web Technologies.I learnt computer , French and English for my GCSE and despite my focus on computing studies I do enjoy literature a lot.I am a Certified Engineer , Agility Health Certified and Microsoft Professional Certified."
