About Harriet...
Who am I?
"I am a scientist in the early stages of my career. My personality types include, Coach, Influencer and Quality Controller. I think that all of these personality types fit my role at Pfizer, but especially the Quality Controller type. I think this benefits me in a work environment as my work ensures that products are safe to use and that they are good quality."
What do I do?
"I perform work on different projects in my company to develop different drugs to work towards getting them onto the market. I am currently studying for a degree in Pharmaceutical Science along side my work as an apprenticeship."
How did I get here?
"I finished my A levels during the Covid-19 pandemic, and I thought that I would learn better practically so with that and the fact that I would also get my degree paid for, I applied for some apprentices. I got accepted by Pfizer where I have been working ever since. I originally worked at Pfizer's Kent site, but I have now transferred to the Cambridge site."
The life I live
"In my spare time I have always been heavily involved in Guiding. I also enjoy camping in my own time as well as with Guiding. I am a very crafty person too so you can usually find me knitting, sewing or reading in my spare time."
My typical day
"A typical day at work for me would include attending various meetings and planning out my work for the next few weeks. Setting up my Laboratory notebook to ensure that the work I produce is up to a good standard. I would then spend as much of my time as possible in the lab. The reason I wanted to become a scientist is for the lab work so I always try to make it a priority."
My qualifications
"Post-GCSE I took 3 A levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths. I much preferred Biology and Chemistry as they were topics that I was very interested in. I am currently working towards a BSC in Pharmaceutical sciences. "
