"For the associated questionnaire on here, my types are Influencer, Manager and Quality Control.In addition, my Myers Briggs personality type changes between INTJ and INTP - however I don't think this is representative of engineers as a whole. We talked about this during a project workshop to understand how to better work together and there really was a mix of different types of people in the room. I have an eye for detail which helps with some of the work around noticing errors however others within engineering are better suited to strategy and building a vision for the development of a product or even the company. "

"I currently work as an engineering manager delivery an Integrated Combat System for the Polish Navy. We are in the early phases before contract award and so there's lots of communication with the customer and adjusting our boundary to align with their requirements. I enjoy the variety of my work, I lead a team of engineers to ensure that we produce the correct solution for the customer, however how we do this changes every day. We work across 3 countries and communication is key. Starting salary for the graduate scheme is £29,000. "

"I went straight from A-levels to University to a graduate scheme so not all that exciting. However, once I got into my role I have worked with a multitude of customers and on a wide variety of projects. I got involved with 'extracurricular' activities where possible and so was fortunate to get a decent amount of exposure. Through this, I was offered an engineering management role at our site in Templecombe. Although this meant a lot of travel, Monday to Friday every week for about a year, I threw myself into the challenge and learned a lot. This gave me even more exposure to a greater amount of people within Thales and was recommended for another role within Thales, to help set up a new business line to pursue a different avenue of the defence market. I've been with the new business line (Above Water Systems) for 3 years now and have increased my responsibility level with each project move."

"I enjoy music gigs and attend several a month. I'm really into DIY at the moment and love using my power tools.I have a very energetic but cuddly dog that I spend my off time with. "

"I have several 'typical' days depending on my location, if i'm working from home I spend a lot of time in meetings with other team members working collaboratively on various topics, answering emails, writing documents, analysing data, reviewing other peoples work.However, if i'm working away, during a co-location week with the team, there's a lot more collaboration and whiteboarding to understand how we are going to do things or brainstorming different technical ideas for design and integration. Less often, I visit the customer and suppliers, and attend testing events. "
