About Buse...

Who am I?

"The personality types definitely match with me and the work I do. I manage a software engineering application group, so my manager qualities, especially being a good listener and employing empathy, are key in navigating my responsibilities. Working with product managers, designers, and engineers on a daily basis makes knowing how to communicate information to different audiences a significant part of my job. Lastly, as an engineer, I use problem solving to work out solutions to various problems, which is in line with the developer profile."

What do I do?

"I manage a software engineering group at Bloomberg LP which builds applications in the financials domain for our clients. It's very exciting to build software which is used by tens of thousands users arounds the world."

How did I get here?

"I interned at Bloomberg LP while I was pursuing my Master's Degree in Engineering Management with a Concentration in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University. Internships are a great way to demonstrate your potential to your future employers. After graduation, I went back and joined Bloomberg LP full-time as an entry-level software engineer. Later, I participated in leadership training and became a team leader. Successful women I've met at my university and throughout my career, who were also in the software engineering field, often serve as an inspiration."

The life I live

"I have a 1-year old son, so these days almost all my spare time is spent with him. I enjoy talking long walks and swimming, as well as discovering what NYC has to offer (while we still could)."

My typical day

"I attend many meetings throughout the day, but also make sure that I listen and discuss any topics my colleagues and team members bring to the table."

My qualifications

"I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University. I then completed my Master's Degree in Engineering Management, also from Johns Hopkins University."
