About Anusha...

Who am I?

"Quality ControllerCoordinatorManager"

What do I do?

"I am a Safety Engineer and I also work as a part of the ISA (Independent Safety Authority) team for rail and nuclear. As a Safety Engineer, my role varies from producing Safety Cases to reviewing various documents in a project lifecycle (Specification, Testing etc).As an ISA, my role is slightly different - I review the work that other Safety Engineers, Testers, Analysts have carried out.My work is varied and interesting and I work with incredible colleagues.I love my work!"

How did I get here?

"I started out at Middlesex University doing my BSc. I was an international student from Sri Lanka. I was really interesting in HMI modules and I found my mentor in my Lecturer who taught the HMI modules. She later on became my supervisor for my MSc. We worked on my research together which was published by IET. This was the stepping stone I needed to get into my graduate programme at Logica (Now CGI). Once I completed my training, I knew without a doubt that what I wanted to do was Safety Engineering and was very keen to work for Altran Praxis (now Altran and soon to be Cap Gemini). I got the job and almost 9 years on, I have never looked back!"

The life I live

"I'm a mummy to a 6 year old girl and a 3 year old boy. They keep my husband and I on our toes when we are not working! We love to be outdoors.....we also as a family love to read. "

My typical day

"I wake up and do the usual mummy things and drop the kids at school, then its work time. I normally start by replying to emails and usually have quite a few meetings during the day. These days, I mostly review documents and write my findings in a report which then gets delivered to the client. Work is flexible so I can take my daughter for example to tennis after school and once we get back home, my husband takes over and I make up the time that I lost."

My qualifications

"GSCEs (10 subjects)Diploma in ComputingBSc in Information Technology MSc in Research in Safety Critical Systems."
