About Giulia...
Who am I?
"I can see myself as an influencer, an innovator and a manager since as a PhD student doing research I need to:- work on my own as well as rely on others with more experience when I need advice- plan in detail my experiments and inform myself about techniques and materials- be creative and think of alternatives to solve tasks and present data- be strong willed, motivated and organised "
What do I do?
"I am a PhD student at the University Clinic of Freiburg, in Germany. My research aims at finding new ways to treat lung cancer. "
How did I get here?
"As a high school student I was very curious about chemistry and biology, as well as physics and philosophy. I also liked swimming and performing in a drama club. When the time to choose what to do next came, I decided to follow the passion I had in spending time doing experiments in labs, and I enrolled at the University of Padova to study molecular biology. After graduation, I decided to enroll at the University of Trento to gain a Master's degree in Biotechnology. "
The life I live
"In my free time I like cooking, watching films or TV series, talking long walks in the forest and spend time with friends. "
My typical day
"Every day I go the lab to perform some experiments and handle the cell lines I culture. I also spend some time of the day reading scientific papers to gain insights into my field of research and analysing the data I get from the experiments, which I then put into nice plots that I can use for presenting my work. "
My qualifications
"B.Sc in Molecular Biology, University of Padova (Italy)M.Sc in Cellular and Molecular Biotechnology (cancer track), University of Trento (Italy)Erasmus semester at LMU MunichErasmus internship at thee University Clinic Freiburg, ZTZ, Division of Cancer Research"
