About Annalisa...

Who am I?

"I work in the energy industry and particularly I am a Safety Engineer. I ensure that the design of energy plants and offshore facilities is compliant with the safety regulation. I match well the \"Coordinator\" profile because I am organised in my job, I work well in team and I am always very happy to support others. Working on budget and within a time frame is also very important for me.I am also a \"Developer\" because I am interested in improving the energy sector, I love learning new things and developing new skills and above all I am very practical and strong willed.I match the \"Quality Controller\" very well because my priority is to keep people safe, that's why I chose to became a Safety Engineer in the first instance. Fairness, honesty and trustworthiness are also key to my job. "

What do I do?

"I am a Safety Engineer in the energy sector. I work in team and I ensure that the design of energy plants and offshore facilities is compliant with the safety regulation. Particularly I use various softwares to analyse scenarios where the safety of people can be compromised, I write technical reports to inform the client of my findings and I present my results to them. I love the idea that I am contributing to keeping people safe whether at work or as members of the public. "

How did I get here?

"I studied in Italy therefore my route to becoming a Safety Engineer may be slightly different to yours but I believe it is worth to share anyway.I undertook scientific studies in high school, among other subjects I studied maths, physics, chemistry and biology. After deciding that the subjects I liked most were chemistry, maths and physics, I enrolled in a BEng followed by a MEng in Chemical Engineering. During my master I spent 6 months in France specializing in Safety Engineering. At the end of my academic career I realized that I wanted to become a Safety Engineer."

The life I live

"I have two main hobbies: reading and travelling and they can be often combined in different ways. I love planning to travel so you can always find me in the travel section of a library, I love reading while traveling so I am one of the people who always have a book in my bag and I love reading about travels."

My typical day

"I spend my day in the office. The specific tasks I perform depend on the project I am working on. I could be studying the scope of work of the project to understand what to do or I could be running simulations or I could be writing reports. The most important thing in my daily routine is having someone to discuss the project with, because different points of view lead to great improvement of the outcome."

My qualifications

"- Italian equivalent on A levels in Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Earth Science, Italian, Latin, History, Philosophy, Art and English- BEng In Chemical Engineering- MEng in Chemical Engineering with focus on Safety Engineering"
