It doesn't matter how beautiful your theory is, it doesn't matter how smart you are. If it doesn't agree with experiment, it's wrong. R.P. Feynman
About Eleanor...
Who am I?
"I am a person who looks at the world around me in a way that is macroscopic and microscopic at the same time: I can see how the fine detail of a few lines of code builds up into a successful website that makes it's users happy, or how some rows of data in a table make the difference between an error and a correct answer. The ability to approach the world around me in this way comes from the way studying STEM prepares you: you start to think about how the little things build up to the big things (although this does require practice!)."
What do I do?
"My role is a blend of data science, analytics and behavioural sciences: we use a blend of techniques to show different versions of a website to users and then use statistics to analyse/compare and declare which version is the best.Typical companies that do this already are Netflix, Amazon, AirBnB, Microsoft, Skyscanner, and many more."
How did I get here?
"After doing a science degree, I started working in data and analytics and worked as a developer.Combining all those fields together led to me working in Data Science and Experimentation for websites."
The life I live
"In my spare time I enjoy doing a lot of art and drawing, which gives a good balance to the very technical work I do."
My typical day
"Most of my day is spent:Analysing complex data setsLooking at how processes and ways of working can be improvedCreating strategies and approaches to help train others and to put into practice new ways of doing thingsI spend time training and mentoring others"
My qualifications
"A levels in Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, AS further maths2.1 degree in natural sciences Univeristy of Cambridge."
