About Rehela...

Who am I?

"As a person who is analytical and also a problem solver, I like working with written standards and specifications to see if products and parts comply or perform as the should.I also have to be a team player to get a bigger project completed, but quite often I need to work on my own to get smaller tasks done.As I have knowledge of the products sold , I also constantly give guidance and advice to mostly new staff on how parts should be assembled, and why quality is important."

What do I do?

"My job is to ensure that parts that have been purchased to use in Manufacturing conform and will not fail once assembled. These parts are used with Medical products , so cannot fail when they are tried out on patients.I enjoy most the analytical/problem solving skills, learning to use new gauges and tools and also working in project teams with different departments .i.e. Engineers, Designers. The starting salary for Quality Inspection/Technician roles in Manufacturing is around £22K per annum."

How did I get here?

"While still at University, I carried out some voluntary work with School children then Adults who had Literacy and Numeracy needs - so I was a Volunteer tutor, I think these people nurturing skills were recognised when I applied for my first job after Graduation. At the very start of my career I assisted a large team getting staff in Manufacturing to be involved in Quality Improvement initiatives.Since then I have progressed onto more senior roles , but still within Quality Control.I was inspired mainly by my 3 brothers, who are all Engineers. My brother's all work abroad and have very interesting and varied careers, and one has even worked at NASA!"

The life I live

"I am an avid reader of Historical Fiction, I enjoy country side walks and spend some spare time doing Arts and Crafts. When I have spare time I still volunteer, mostly in STEM subjects working as a mentor."

My typical day

"I inspect supplied parts to ensure they conform to written specifications - the check may be visual, a measurement or require a fit check. If the parts fail, I need to contact the supplier and get replacements.I also process documents (procedures) that are required to ensure standard manufacturing practices are followed, I also ensure the documents are clear and well written so that new staff can be trained properly.I also carry out quality sampling on products before they are sent to customers so that the Medical products will not fail and the customer is satisfied."

My qualifications

"I completed a BSc Degree in Physics, I applied for Graduate roles via my University Careers Service, and got my first role in Quality Control directly after Graduating , and have stayed in Quality Control but have worked in a few different industries (Electronics, Medical products and Drug testing).Later on during my career , I completed a Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (via Day Release at College), this links well to Quality Control, and has opened up a few more career opportunities."
