About Lara...

Who am I?

"I am a Technical Manager with a background in Process Engineering for the water industry. The \"Investigator\" type matches my personality quite well. I am good at working things out logically collecting information from people and things. I also like to explore and understand a wide range of processes and use my knowledge to find solutions to problems and offer advice, often thinking outside the boxes.I work well in small teams, I am cooperative, honest and ethical. I am also well organised and like to have a clear picture of the problem before getting stuck in it. "

What do I do?

"I am a Technical Manager for the Industrial Water division at Veolia Environment.I provide technical direction and expertise to industrial water projects, leading the development and promotion of new, innovative, sustainable and commercially attractive service offering, to contribute to my company's growth. Trough application of process knowledge and expertise I identify, drive and deliver continuous improvements for existing operations.I lead a team or process engineers who support existing operational contracts and new business development opportunities. "

How did I get here?

"I studied Environmental Engineering in Italy where I am originally from. I have always been an outdoorsy type loved the environment and was quite good at maths and physics, I also knew Engineering gave good career prospects so I chose to become an Environmental Engineer. My firsts job was for a small water treatment company in Delft, The Netherlands, where I moved shortly after graduation. I went to the Technical University of Delft for my final project at Uni and fell in love with the city, so decided to move there for a few years. In Delft, I met my husband, who is English and we decided to move to England. After completing an M.Sc. by Research at Cranfield University I was offered a job as Process Engineer at Veolia Water Technology, where I worked for 6 years. Getting that job was a career breakthrough for me.After 6 years at VWT I changed job to specialise in water reuse, and I worked as Senior Process Engineer for Aquabio in Worcester for 4 years and finally in 2018 I got the opportunity to join Veolia Environment, my current employer, as Senior Process Engineer first to then be promoted Technical Manager."

The life I live

"I take an interest in Spirituality and studies on the Afterlife. I run an online spiritual community for bereaved mothers.I have a daughter here and a precious daughter in Heaven, a cat and a dog."

My typical day

"I don't have a typical day as my work varies a lot which is one of the things I like about it.I could be working from home on a report or a conceptual design, I could be at one of our sites to support operations, I could be surveying an external plant to assess potential opportunities and any upgrade work potentially required, I could be attending a customers meeting or have an internal meeting with my team at one of our offices. It is a very diverse role, which never gets boring and gives me plenty of opportunities for professional growth. "
