About Maryrose ...

Who am I?

"My top three personality types were Coach, Influencer and Trainer. I feel these fit with my job role as my job is working with the public I am able to be understanding in order to attend to customers needs the best way I can. I am able to work on my own and part of a team which is essential in this line of work as we are continuously communicating and helping each other throughout the day. Being polite and mannerly is a quality most people should have when working in the customer service industry; a great service means happy customers. "

What do I do?

"I work in P&O Ferries Larne shore side. My job role is a customer operations agent which falls in the customer service category. I deal with customers both in person and over the telephone, I am checking customers in, making bookings and taking payments all whilst providing a polite and friendly service. "

How did I get here?

"I was quite unsure of what to do as a career in the beginning, after leaving school I went to tech which is where I completed a sports science studies course as I had initially wanted to go into the fitness industry. Towards the end of my course I started to stray towards the travel and tourism industry. I have always enjoyed working with customers which I had done through my previous job roles being a waitress. I have a passion for travel and helping others so being able to do a job where I can do both and I enjoy is perfect! I went on to do Travel and tourism and through my course I did work experience I had chosen to do my placement at P&O, afterwards they had given me a seasonal position. "

The life I live

"When I am not working I go to the gym, I try to go four times a week in order to keep fit and healthy, I would go to a Pilate’s class once a week as it is relaxing and always good to go and stretch out after the gym. I would spend quite a lot of time with my friends and family from doing things such as bowling, mini golf, going out or just movie nights in relaxing. I wanted to further my sign language skills so I have taken up a part time course to get a qualification in British sign language. "

My typical day

"I deal with customers both in person and over the telephone, I am checking customers in, making bookings and taking payments all whilst providing a polite and friendly service. "
