Alexandra Docolin
Web/Mobile Developer at Sauce
About Alexandra...
Who am I?
"I am a Developer, an Innovator, and an Investigator. These really suit my job, because in this field you have to develop software from scratch, to make it as original as possible and yet keep it user-oriented (so that the user won't get confused), and, at times, when you get stuck, to be able to do research and fix issues/improve your work."
What do I do?
"The things I do consist of me writing code and turn it into a beautiful web/mobile application, which the client and their target demographics can use at any point. At times, hardware is involved, and that's when things get both more difficult, but also more interesting!"
How did I get here?
"I have graduated a programming college in Romania, where I also studied for my BSc in Computer Science. Afterwards, I decided I wanted to chase my dream of working abroad - so I came to the UK. At first, I thought I could study a MSc programme in Games Development, but quit about halfway through as it was too stressful for me. The only thing that was pushing me to keep going with it was the pressure put by my parents that I should get the degree and that giving up is never an option. But looking back, giving up in this case has been one of the best decisions I could make. I also gave up on my part time job as a Mixed Reality Developer (it was cool, but not suitable for me). Those giving-ups brought me where I am now: at a workplace where my hard years of study finally pay off."
The life I live
"In my spare time, I play loads of video games, cook, watch a TV show, or just read some good fantasy book"
My typical day
"At work, I write code all day long. The programming language varies from project to project, but the gist is usually the same: sitting in front of the laptop and producing creative web/mobile stuff!"
My qualifications
"BSc in Computer ScienceBacalaureate Diploma"
