The only thing stopping you is yourself.
About Joanna...
Who am I?
"I work in a team and also have to collect lots of information, so this fits with the Investigator. I am enjoying being challenged and being given more tasks to complete, so I think this fits with Trainer. "
What do I do?
"I have come into the department with the purpose of informing management about tracking growth. The team I work in manage the new water and wastewater infrastructure to support new developments and protect our existing sites and equipment. I get involved with the planning team and do project and day-to-day work looking at ways we can track, understand risks and investment required from development growth for our sewage treatment works and our sewerage network capacity. I like how every day is different and that I'm working towards one big project. As I'm completing a placement year at the moment it is difficult to know about progression, however, as the year goes on I am being challenged and given more tasks to complete. "
How did I get here?
"Prior to this I have only worked part time in a bar and in retail."
The life I live
"Most of my friends are at university doing their final year, so I spend my weekends visiting them."
My typical day
"A typical day for me varies. At NWL there are so many opportunities to take advantage and I often find myself out on site visits which include looking at different sites and getting a first-hand view of what our assets do and why we need them. When I'm in the office I spend a lot of time speaking to other employees in the business who have an interest in the project I am completing and how we can track growth in the business."
My qualifications
"Secondary education (GCSE/O-Levels) Post secondary education (College, A-levels, NVQ3 or equivalent) A Level Geography, Business & English Language Undergraduate degree (BSc, BA, etc.) Geography degree Stages 1 & 2, with Stage 3 to be completed after my placement. "
