About Linda...
Who am I?
"The social side of my job is the best bit - influencing people, negotiating, drawing people together, understanding different perspectives, finding common goals, collaborating, very much the Communicator part of my personality. I think understanding people draws on my Campaigner aspects and Manager is useful when working in a team. "
What do I do?
"I manage flood risk management projects by drawing together all of those involved in the project and planning and working with them to deliver the project. I really enjoy the social aspect of my job: the meeting people, getting out and about, chatting with colleagues and getting to know people."
How did I get here?
"I had a female colleague once who had worked in some really top roles, even on site, who had never even questioned her place in the industry (as a female). I found that really inspiring. I wanted to be a doctor when I was at school and did study at medical school for a year."
The life I live
"I love getting stuck into sport and outdoor activities."
My typical day
"My day involves taking a lot of phone calls and sending/receiving emails to find out what people have done to progress the project. I plan meetings to develop the plans and move forward, review documents and review and report finance."
My qualifications
"Secondary education (GCSE/O-Levels) Post secondary education (College, A-levels, NVQ3 or equivalent) A levels in maths, physics, chemistry Undergraduate degree (BSc, BA, etc.) BEng environmental engineering 1:1 "
