"As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer, I move between departments with the aim of achieving Chartership. I am currently in Warships, where my work involves ensuring that parts that were taken out during refit, go back on the ship. This requires me to track parts to ensure they are in the right place at the right time. The outcome is to have all parts on the ship, so that handover to the MOD goes smoothly. I enjoy the ability to try different departments and see what work is completed in each and it provides me with chance to see what I enjoy doing. I can also go to different offices within the UK and there are chances to go abroad. Once I have finished on the graduate scheme, I will go into a role and choose how to further progress my career from there.The starting salary of my role was just shy of £29,000."

"I'm not sure anyone inspired me per se; I was always encouraged to do what I was interested in and had the full support of my parents. I was interested in science and curious as to why things worked the way they did. I was then encouraged to consider engineering by my Mum.I made the decision to study maths, physics and product design after GSCE, and these have all helped in my path to engineering.I'm not sure where I see myself in the future but I will continue to push myself, learn, and don't see myself leaving the engineering sector any time soon."

"I have done a combinations of things during my time at work, some of it more practical than other. I will spend time doing STEM event, going out on warships/submarines for surveys, completing paperwork to push through work that is needed. I have been involved in bid projects, where the company competes for work to do research into technology, or build, or refit boats. I have also completed some reverse engineering which required me to do research and use the information available to find out how a submarine has been able to run. The work I have done has been so varied, and I have enjoyed so much of it."
