Service Lifecycle Manager at Skybetting & Gaming

Accept that sometimes it can feel thankless or that the only feedback you get is when things are going wrong, but know that even when you feel that way, you role matters, or you wouldn’t be there. When it comes down to it, the right people always know if you do a great job and if they don’t, move on, don’t get too comfortable and always strive for more!

About Rebecca...

Who am I?

"Yes, the personality traits help me in my work. I'm a very passionate person and this helps when I'm pitching ideas, I'm a very persistent person too, this means I'm not afraid of doing things that other perceive of difficult or near impossible, I'm happy to play the long game and keep chipping away if it gets the job done. I'm very organised and this helps me prioritise and plan my workload."

What do I do?

"I manage the availability of the section of services I am responsible for by managing change, major incidents, problems, risk, supplier relationships as well as related audits & reporting. I like how varied it is and the exposure to so many different technologies. I could progress by moving into project management or to senior service roles amongst others."

How did I get here?

"Academically I was a write off, most people believed I was thick, that I wouldn't amount to anything. Despite failing my Maths & English GCSE's twice and battling with borderline dyslexia and dyscalculia and a suspected processing disorder, I still persist and push and thanks to a teacher who believed in me (and helped me believe in myself). Previous jobs include a Telesales Advisor, Telesales Coach, Events Coordinator, Service Desk Analyst, Incident Manager, IT Access Analyst and Change Coordinator. I have been inspired: I had a really good boss who saw my potential and whose nickname was Teflon because she just always got on with it and never let anything stick. She stood up for what she believed in but also knew how to pick her battles and just do a good job. As well as that a best friend of mine is in a senior leadership role and its inspiring to see someone close to me doing so well."

The life I live

"I'm a TV binger and love spending time with friends and family. I love make up, gadgets, reading books about real people, attending Agile, DevOps and Women In Tech meet-ups and expensive restaurants!"

My typical day

"My job changes every single day, so no two days are alike. I attend lots of meetings, reports, bringing engineers together, supporting queries and help changes to happen."

My qualifications

"Secondary education (GCSE/O-Levels) First time around 4 A-C GCSE's, after retakes, 6 (grand total of 14 A-F) Post secondary education (College, A-levels, NVQ3 or equivalent) GNVQ Art (Pass) Undergraduate degree (BSc, BA, etc.) BA (Hons) Installation Art and Events (2:2) "
