About Jessica...

Who am I?

"I am inventive and eager to learn new things, also self-driven and motivated, making me good at doing analytical tasks, so my Explorer personality definitely helps in this job. I also have to be organised to meet deadlines, so Campaigner is great for this type of work. "

What do I do?

"I am an Aerospace Engineer, in particular, a Flight Physics engineer on the Graduate Scheme. I am responsible for calculating aircraft loads and the aerodynamics of aircraft to make sure they can safely fly and land. I like the daily challenge of learning new things very quickly. I also like that each day is different and tasks pop up all the time that are exciting. The work is very flexible to suit your personal life. Starting as a graduate with an aging workforce, there are many chances to work your way up the business."

How did I get here?

"When I was in school, we had a talk from an Engineer and he actually inspired me to go into Engineering. I grew up in Australia, so I didn’t go through the UK education system, but after school I went to university and did two internships along the way."

The life I live

"I like going to the gym and being active. I really enjoy boxing. I also like watching Netflix and relaxing after work on an evening. I like going out for brunch and staying in and playing board games."

My typical day

"I run simulations and do calculations in order to make sure that the aircraft can fly safely and as promised to the airlines. I use Microsoft Excel a lot, along with simulation tools to get a lot of graphs of different information which needs interpreting."

My qualifications

"I didn't study in the UK, and it’s not the same system. I grew up in Australia and studied there. I did the equivalent of: Secondary education (GCSE/O-Levels) Post secondary education (College, A-levels, NVQ3 or equivalent) Undergraduate degree: BEng (Aerospace), BSc (Mathematics) Post-graduate degree: BEng (Aerospace Honours) "
