About Anna...
Who am I?
"You need to be highly organised and motivated to pursue a research career: both of which link to the personality types I have, which are Explorer, Manager and Investigator."
What do I do?
"Currently I am a PhD Researcher investigating the role of iodine in pregnancy on neuro-developmental outcomes of children. At work, there are opportunities to travel and network plus make connections within the food sector; furthermore the ability to research an area that has the potential to influence public health policy and help others. A PhD is all about progression academically, professionally and socially."
How did I get here?
"My parents inspired me – they always encouraged me to do something that makes me happy! Academically from a young age I was always bracketed as not \"able\" with Maths. After sitting the 11 plus, I was fortunate to always know I wanted to work in the food sector and was self-motivated enough to pursue this despite various personal setbacks."
The life I live
"In my spare time, I love music (especially singing), Yoga, Pilates, walking, spending time with family and friends and reading."
My typical day
"Everything from meetings and literature searching to lab work: although not at this stage in the project, but it will be very soon!"
