About Emma...

Who am I?

"Coach is very useful as I work as part of a team supporting less experienced colleagues. I enjoy helping them develop and watching their progress, which I find very satisfying. I also take responsibility in establishing the priorities when working to achieve the tasks we are given and using the team effectively to do this. This type of problem solving and practicality uses my Developer personality."

What do I do?

"I work with the Branch Managers to establish the Royal Navy's requirement for the number of people wanting to do the 2,500 courses we run. I then ensure the courses are delivered. Being in the Royal Navy, I change jobs every 2 years and so far, each one has been completely different. I love the challenge this presents and the responsibility I have been given. I have worked with some fantastic people and there is a lot of support because we work so closely together."

How did I get here?

"Lots of people but someone who I really admire is Alan Turing, who applied academics to protecting the nation during the Second World War and achieved many things. We will always be in debt to him and the team at Bletchley Park."

The life I live

"I love sport - mainly hockey, sailing, skiing and recently telemark skiing. I also enjoy reading, spending time with friends and eating good food."

My typical day

"A typical day involves mainly desk based working with large spreadsheets, lots of phone calls with Branch Managers and training establishments. I spend a lot of my time validating the information on the spreadsheets and identifying errors prior to releasing them to the contracts."
