About Carrie...
Who am I?
"My role is very variable. It gives me the ability to help shape concepts cross functionally and globally which fits with my ‘Innovator’ type. I am also a ‘Communicator’ and ‘Coach’ and my role is largely dependent on relationship building. I love the breadth, variance and the people I work with. I am also highly motivated by seeing the difference I make either in people or business performance."
What do I do?
"I am a Regionalisation Manager. In simple terms, I work with subject matter experts to analyse how they operate outside the UK and then help put in place initiatives which either fix a problem or keep up with an ever changing work landscape. The most exciting stage of my career was stepping from a central function (HR) into an operational role at the age of 26 where I was responsible for a group of 250 Engineers globally (when I was not an Engineer myself). I work globally and travel all over the world with work including Nigeria, Singapore and Japan."
How did I get here?
"My inspirations have been my son, my Mum, my sister, mentors, business leaders and many more. I have had many varied experiences to develop a breadth of opportunities. I just chose roles where I felt I could bring my whole self, add value, be valued and hopefully inspire others through my passion. My existing role wasn't a goal; it was an opportunity that came up that worked well with my home life. I did an apprenticeship which focused on the Energy sector, moved into an operational role and then into my current strategic position."
The life I live
"I've raised my son on my own since he was 3 months old whilst working full time in a senior position, being a school governor, STEM ambassador, volunteering at the hospital and maintaining a happy healthy mind! It takes hard work but in my experience if you feel passionately enough, you really can have it all! I give my son as many different experiences as possible so he feels confident to pursue which ever route he’d like. When I get a minute, I also enjoy cooking, painting, walking and doing up furniture. "
My typical day
"My day can be spent in the office in the UK or in one of Regional facilities anywhere in the world. There is no typical day in my role, every day is different! I could be planning and organising project work or spend the day building relationships whilst picking up business intelligence."
My qualifications
"Secondary education (GCSE/O-Levels)Post secondary education (College, A-levels, NVQ3 or equivalent)Vocational qualification (Diploma, Certificate, BTEC, NQV4 or equivalent)Main subject - Leadership and Management"
