Vivika Turner

"As an Engineering Apprentice, Vivika rotates around different departments within Airbus, learning about what each one does. She needs to be friendly and understanding as she is required to assist with the typical work that they do in each department, and so provides a service to each new department that she goes to. This means that her role really suits the ‘Coordinator’ type. Vivika is also organised and careful to learn about exactly how each department operates, which fits with the ‘Quality Controller’ type."

Whilst doing this, she also goes to college to gain qualifications.The most exciting part of Vivika’s role so far has been seeing all the different products that Airbus make. Being a part of this and contributing to the production of Airbus products is very rewarding for her. She finds it really inspiring to know that she has worked on something that will eventually go up into space!"

"Vivika studied Maths, Physics and Chemistry at A-Level. After that, she was unsure of what career path to take and she worked as a waitress for a time. She knew that she wanted to set herself on a good career path and that she wanted to gain more qualifications, but also really wanted to work at the same time. Vivika has always been fascinated by Airbus and so when she saw their apprenticeship scheme, she was determined to apply. She sent in her application and tried her best to impress them! She was successful and she joined the Airbus apprenticeship on a starting salary of £13,500."

"Vivika loves being at home with friends and family and also her dog! She also really enjoys cooking, as well as going out for food. She also likes travelling and has been lucky to visit some amazing places. Vivika might even find that she has the opportunity to travel for work if she continues working at Airbus, since there are many Airbus sites all over the world.There are many opportunities for progression at Airbus and Vivika is very open about what kind of department to go into in the future. She would definitely like to work her way up to a lead role. Her dream job would be to be an astronaut!"

"A typical day at work for Vivika would involve going to the department she has been placed in that day and following the other engineers to get to know what they do and how the department operates. She really enjoys getting a good exposure to what Airbus does and how each department contributes to the products that they make."
