About Tracy...
Who am I?
"I need to be organised and logical when I work on planning and reviewing each project. That suits the ‘Investigator’ type. I also need to be practical, working with others to collate new and innovative ideas and to develop constructible, successful projects. That matches well with the ‘Developer’, and ‘Innovator’ types."
What do I do?
"As Development Director for Green Hydrogen in an energy company, I manage all aspects of green hydrogen projects projects from planning consent, through financial close and construction into operation. I organise the planning that the team activates, reviews new designs, supports the team, helps to solve problems, and communicates with a whole host of internal and external people. I help to investigate and develop renewable energy sources, and really enjoy the sense of achievement that she gets from building something new and innovative to keep the lights on throughout the UK whilst achieving Net Zero and Energy Security. "
How did I get here?
"My older sister inspired me to follow an engineering path, showing me that it’s not a ‘man’s career’. In my experience, not many girls chose that path, but I have no idea why more girls don't choose engineering, as I believe it’s a great, positive career! I started by doing a degree in Electrical Engineering. My main motivator was to find job satisfaction and a sense of doing something good, and so I worked in Renewable Energy and Sustainability throughout my whole career. I first worked as an Electrical Engineer on a starting salary of £17,000 and then became Head of Project Engineering, before moving into Project Management and then my current director role. I am now a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology."
The life I live
"In my spare time I love playing with my children loves playing with her two children. As Tracy works for a multi-national company with projects and offices around the world, she often travels throughout UK, the EU and America. In the future Tracy hopes to still be working in Renewable Energy and continuing to make a difference to the world."
