Who am I?
"Stephanie is a Project Manager with the software development design company Arm, which designs and produces microchips for billions of devices all over the world.Stephanie’s role involves communicating with lots of different people and understanding what drives them which suits the ‘Trainer’ type. Being the ‘Communicator’ type and having the confidence and ability to speak to people easily makes this much more effective. The ‘Innovator’ type is also useful as she needs to be organised and resourceful, and to combine empathy, teamwork and a business focus as a Project Manager."
What do I do?
"Stephanie is a Project Manager with the software development design company Arm. They produce design/ architect microchips used in billions of devices all over the world. You probably have one of their microchips in your phone or computer right now.Stephanie’s role involves managing several software development projects. This includes managing project deliveries, setting expectations, reporting to stakeholders, motivating the team, managing conflict, presenting project updates and setting out project planning and scheduling. The outcomes she is aiming for are well planned projects with tracked deliveries and good communication with stakeholders, suppliers and customers. A day at work for Stephanie involves talking to the team, having stand-up meetings to track progress, talking to stakeholders, and raising and tracking risks and dependencies. She particularly enjoys problem solving and helping remove the risk from a situation. Risks can include materials not arriving on time, not having the capacity to produce the quantities or quality required deliver roadmaps, internal and external dependencies, or even changes in technology or designs. She also loves talking to people and being part of the team."
How did I get here?
"Stephanie studied Mathematics and Computer Science at university. From there, she started her career in technology as a Graduate QA Engineer in a start-up in Manchester, on a starting salary of £20,500. In this role, she learned about the principles of using Agile frameworks (a project management strategy) to track projects, and she introduced these into the company as a new way of working. From there, she started doing more and more project management activities until she was promoted into an Agile project management position. Since then, she has continued to work in project management in the software development space. She now also holds several Agile Project Management and Agile Scrum Master certifications."
The life I live
"Stephanie loves going to the gym and doing fun exercise classes. She also likes cooking, especially experimenting with Asian cuisines. She can also play the violin, the piano and the flute! Stephanie really loves reading, which she says is the one good thing about spending 4 hours commuting every day! Stephanie has had lots of opportunities to travel in her job. She has only been at Arm for 16 20 months and already she’s visited Bangalore, Shanghai and Austin, Texas! She also has lots of opportunities for progression at Arm in the future. For her the most important thing is always to be happy and successful in whatever she does!"
