About Lisa...

Who am I?

"As a Project Portfolio Engineer at a power company, Lisa focuses on improving processes within the business and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.Lisa is a conscientious and self-motivated individual, which is reflected in her journey, where she has progressed her way through the company to get to the position of Project Portfolio Engineer. Her current role focuses on improving processes within the business, which reflects a ‘Quality Controller’ and ‘Explorer’ side to her personality. Lisa is also a reliable individual, who takes the time to listen and understand what people want for the benefits of themselves and the business, which also demonstrates how she is a ‘Quality Controller’. In the future, Lisa aspires to set up her own business which emphasises the ‘Innovator’ side of her personality. "

What do I do?

"Lisa works for a global energy and power company. Energy is essential for us all and providing it in a sustainable way is critical for the environment and future generations. As a Project Portfolio Engineer, Lisa focuses on improving processes within the business (RWE Generation Hard Goal and Gas UK) and embedding a culture of continuous improvement. This makes the company more efficient and sustainable, able to comply with legislation, provide a better service and be more profitable. Lisa’s current project is involved with Lean (New Way of Work – NWoW) activity. This is a system to improve ways of working, and she implements change programmes to support the sustainability of the organisation. Lisa’s day will start with a 15-minute meeting with the NWoW team to discuss the activities and priorities for the day. There may be time spent planning and designing a workshop to deliver for colleagues within the wider department or actually facilitating a workshop. Lisa also sits on the steering committee for Diversity in RWE Generation UK and also the women’s Network in RWE UK so usually spends time doing strategic planning or event organisation. Lisa also spends time in her day to check on her colleagues needs, ideas and knowledge to check on their wellbeing and to improve whatever process she is working on at the time. "

How did I get here?

"After completing a degree in International Business Studies and German, Lisa decided to go travelling. Lisa then took up roles in marketing and projects for 2 years. After this, Lisa joined RWE as a temporary admin assistant at their engineering workshop in West Yorkshire. Their main reason for employing Lisa was for her German Language skills. After 10 months, she was offered a permanent role as a Business Development and Proposals co-ordinator. After 2 years, Lisa moved to Swindon to take a role at the Head Office as a Marketing Manager. Since, Lisa has progressed through the company and took on a job in the technical sales team where she was responsible for the sale of ash! Due to her hard work, Lisa was asked to expand this into setting up and managing a team responsible for the sale of the companies engineering consultancy to external customers. Lisa’s exposure to lots of different roles within the business have given her sufficient experience to move onto her most recent challenge in joining the Business Improvement Team."

The life I live

"Lisa loves to horse ride in her spare time and has done ever since she was little. She tries to go every week (depending on the weather) and would love to have her own horse, but that means a lot of commitment especially when she also loves to travel!Lisa is unsure on what the future holds. Eventually she would like to see herself earning enough money to buy an old farmhouse and barns in Italy and convert them into homes – showing the Innovator side of her personality! "
