About Nash...

Who am I?

"I lead the development of the aerodynamic properties on car products that are in development. My job involves working with a wide variety of people and areas of the business. For this reason, I must always be open-minded andcreative to find a common solution for all parties involved, which suits the ‘Explorer’ type. I must also be able to clearly explain my work and issues as they arise, often this is to people who are not familiar with my field so I must explain technical details with enough clarity that each person can fully understand. This fits in with being the ‘Trainer’ and ‘Coach’ types."

What do I do?

"As an Aerodynamicist, my responsibilities include development with the design team of the aerodynamic properties of cars, managing the development plan to ensure delivery of targets and requirements, testing in wind tunnels, ensuring compatibility with drag targets and presenting vehicle statuses and plans at programme meetings. I help to design the cars that we will be driving tomorrow making sure that they perform well – not just to go faster but to be fuel efficient as well."

How did I get here?

"I always knew that I wanted to work in the automotive sector. I had some amazing teachers at school, who nurtured me through the education system. I then completed a master’s degree in both Physics and in Aerodynamics before starting to work for Jaguar Land Rover. I left my role at JLR in 2019 and spent three years working with the British Bobsleigh and Skeleton Association as part of the Beijing Olympic cycle. I spent a further year working in the elite sport world across sports such as rowing and cycling. In 2022, I returned back to the automotive industry to work for RLE International as a Aerodynamics Consultant. I was also deeply involved in Young Engineers from a young age as well as participating in the Greenpower Educational Trust, who gave me the confidence to believe I could achieve my goals and showed me the value of long-term engagement. This helped me to learn that a problem isn't solved in a day but it takes time and dedication to succeed. "

The life I live

"In my spare time, I try to spend as much time outdoors as I can. I am a keen photographer and have even been published a few times! I am a Trustee of the Greenpower Education Trust where I help with the organisational strategy as well as volunteering at several events. I am also a STEM Ambassador and often speaks at schools and conferences about the importance of inspiring the next generation to work in the STEM sector. "

My typical day

"I have two different types of day at work, office days and testing days. On office days, I focuse mainly on analysing results and having meetings with other departments. On testing days, I work off-site, in several wind tunnels."

My qualifications
