Nutritionist

Nutritionists pass on their knowledge about the science in food to others. They can also give advice on the effect that consuming different foods and drinks can have on your health. They could be carrying out research projects into the effects foods or drinks have, looking at samples from these projects or telling others in the health industry about previous research. Nutritionists have to be able to work well with others as they will work in teams, and may need to find volunteers to take part in their research. To become a nutritionist, you usually need a degree or postgraduate qualification in certain approved courses, like food and nutrition, biochemistry or physiology. Many nutritionists work within the NHS or private hospitals, but there may be opportunities in different food companies too. Nutritionists can earn from £20,000 (starting off) to £50,000 (once experienced).
