Assystem

Assystem is an engineering, digital and project management company that works across sectors including nuclear, transportation and the energy grid. We work on projects that support clean energy, safe transport, and strong national infrastructure. Our work includes designing and managing work on nuclear power stations, railways, and other large low-carbon systems that help society run smoothly. Our teams include engineers, project planners, designers, digital specialists, and all-round problem‑solvers.

Everything we do is guided by our pillars about people, sustainability, and teamwork. We believe people do their best work when they feel respected, supported, and included. That is why we actively encourage girls and women to explore science, technology, engineering, and maths careers. We know different ideas and experiences lead to better solutions.

With a national presence across the UK, we reach out to a range of local schools to provide STEM talks, attend STEM career events and much more. 

What makes Assystem unique is how deeply we care about supporting women and girls in science and engineering. Advancing gender equality is a core part of our ambition to lead major industries like energy, defence, and infrastructure.

At the heart of this is our Incredible Women programme, which focuses on three things: inspiring girls and young women to see engineering as exciting and achievable, creating a welcoming and supportive workplace, and helping women build long, rewarding careers.

We bring this to life through real actions. EmpowHER, our mentoring programme, connects women with senior leaders for guidance, confidence‑building, and skills development. Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion gender pillar runs events and awareness sessions, such as discussions around confidence in the workplace. We also support a local girls’ sports team, providing kits and visiting to show real life role models in STEM.
