About Fanny...
Who am I?
"I am a very enthusiastic person that is always excited at the ideas of creating something new or finding a solution to a problem. I love working in a team but can also work by myself when needed. "
What do I do?
"I also on research projects to develop the next generation of nuclear power plant through fusion reaction.I design robots or mechanical equipment (support, rig, platforms etc.) that help the nuclear reactor functioning normally. We usually start the design from scratch, but sometimes we have to take over things that have been produced previously. I also perform assessment and studies to understand how can a mechanical equipment design be improved and ensure it comply with the customer requirements.I also work on some other projects to support our client need - this can be mechanical assessment, design studies etc. There are opportunities to travel all over the world talking about what I do. I meet different people who all have lots of ideas. I like feeling like I contribute to help the future of our industry. For me this job is just first step to a long career and can open many doors or other type of job/role (project management, business developer etc.) "
How did I get here?
"I took A Levels in Maths, Physics & Science before completing an Engineering degree. A mix of people inspired me. Initially with engineering, it was my brothers and Granddad that lead me to it. In my work, it is people I work with or that I've met along the way that inspire me the most. "
The life I live
"I enjoy sharing knowledge about what I do through STEM activity but also helping in into the local nuclear network. I love doing a lot of sport and outdoor activity."
My typical day
"This generally involves reviewing robot or mechanical equipment design that we have produced. I talk to customers to understand their needs/requirements and then try to find solutions that answer their issues. I sometimes produced 3D model and sometimes only perform mechanical analysis study (space analysing, stress analysis, feasibility study etc.). I’m mostly working from a computer, but sometimes I visit the customers or our partners site which includes going around shop floor.I also attend conferences to present the project I work on and/or the work I performed. "
My qualifications
"Secondary education (GCSE/O-Levels)Post secondary education (College, A-levels, NVQ3 or equivalent) Maths, Physics, Science Undergraduate degree (BSc, BA, etc.) Engineering Post-graduate degree (MSc, MA, etc.) Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering - in France"
